Lesson &amp; Reflection
In a world filled with noise, validation-seeking, and comparison, there is one form of love that eclipses all others: the love of Allah. It is the anchor for the soul, the light in darkness, and the lasting peace both in this life and the next. When others may forget or disappoint, Allah sees and cherishes every sincere effort.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) shared a hadith qudsi that deeply moves the heart: “My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him. And he continues to draw near to Me with extra deeds until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees…” (40 Hadith Qudsi, Hadith 25)
SubhanAllah! To be so beloved by Allah that your every step, every word, every perception is guided by Him — what greater state is there? This closeness is not reserved for the perfect. It's for those who strive, who follow the Prophet sincerely, and who never stop returning to Allah. Allah's love is accessed through obedience, and the key to that is love for the Messenger and living by his example (Quran <a href="https://quran.com/33:21">33:21</a>).
Surah Maryam (19:96) affirms that those who believe and do good are gifted not just with Allah's love but love from His creation. You won't have to chase validation; it will come when you walk with sincerity. His love transforms your reputation, your prayer, and your heart.
Hadith
Abdullah ibn Hisham reported: Umar said to the Prophet (peace be upon him), “You are more beloved to me than everything but myself.” The Prophet replied, “No, until I am more beloved to you than yourself.” Umar said, “Now you are more beloved to me than myself.” The Prophet said, “Now you are right, O Umar.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 663)
This moment between the Prophet (peace be upon him) and Umar beautifully reinforces the Quranic command in <a href="https://quran.com/3:31">3:31</a>. That true love for Allah is proven through sincere love and obedience to His Messenger. Umar’s shift from admiration to full submission of the heart reflects the journey every believer must take: to prefer the Prophet’s guidance over personal desire, comfort, and even self. When we align our hearts with the Prophet’s way, we don’t just follow sunnah; we walk the path that leads directly to Allah’s love.

The Greatest Goal

Lesson &amp; Reflection
Allah, in His wisdom, grants His love to those who embody specific traits. Among them is sabr (patience), a spiritual strength that shines most in adversity. Sabr is not the absence of feeling, but the presence of faith during struggle. It is not passivity, but spiritual strength. To stay faithful when life hurts. To hold back when the nafs (ego) screams. To keep praying even when answers seem delayed. However, it doesn't mean a lack of emotions as understood by some. It is not stoicism or indifference; it is acknowledging your pain without losing sight of the fact that Allah’s plan is the best. It’s what allows us to pray through pain, to stay upright when the soul feels heavy, and to keep hoping even when the path seems long.
In Surah Yusuf, the Prophet Ya‘qub (peace be upon him) weeps so intensely over the loss of his son that he loses his eyesight. Yet he says: “I complain of my anguish and sorrow only to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know” (Quran <a href="https://quran.com/12:86">12:86</a>). This is sabr. Deep emotion without losing direction.
Likewise, Allah loves those who possess taqwa (God-consciousness). They walk this life like one treading a thorny path, careful not to be pricked. Every step is guided by the awareness that Allah sees all. Taqwa combines reverence, fear, and awareness of Allah, leading the believer to pause before every word, question every intention, and refine every deed. Taqwa shapes their choices, filters their speech, and softens their ego.
These aren’t one-time actions. They are qualities of the heart that require nurturing. To be loved by Allah is to strive for these traits and to know that your striving is seen.
Hadith
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “When Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel and says: ‘I love so-and-so, so love him.’ Then Jibreel loves him. Then he announces in the heavens: ‘Allah loves so-and-so, so love him.’ Then the people of the heavens love him, and acceptance is placed for him on Earth.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3209)
This hadith illustrates that when Allah loves you, His love alone is more than sufficient, but out of His infinite mercy, He also commands the rest of His creation to love you as well. It is a powerful display of Allah’s all-encompassing compassion and kindness.
Practical Activity
Choose one trait: sabr or taqwa. Let it shape your day. Before you speak, react, or decide, ask: “Would someone with this trait do this?”

Traits of the Beloved

Lesson &amp; Reflection
In Islam, the door of repentance is never closed, no matter how far you’ve strayed. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:222) makes it clear: Allah loves those who return to Him over and over again. The word tawwabeen refers not to those who never sin, but those who are habitual in their repentance. Sincere repentance is not weakness; it is spiritual courage.
Surah Al-Furqan (25:70) reminds us of something astounding: Allah not only forgives sins, but He can turn them into good deeds! This shows His immense mercy. What weighs you down today could become part of what raises your rank tomorrow, if you sincerely turn back to Him.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized this by saying: “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, were you not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and replace you with a people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would forgive them.” (Sahih Muslim 2749)
Allah loves those who repent as repentance is a sign of humility, sincerity, and a heart that acknowledges its need for Him. It is a daily renewal of the relationship between servant and Lord. And the more you turn back, the closer you draw.
Repentance is not just saying “Astaghfirullah.” True tawbah includes:

<li>Deep regret over the sin</li>
<li>Immediate cessation of the act</li>
<li>A firm intention not to return</li>
<li>Replacing the wrong with good actions</li>
<li>Restituting a right of someone who you have wronged, such as withholding their property</li>
</ul>
Even the Prophet, who was sinless, sought forgiveness more than 70 times a day (Sahih al-Bukhari 6307). Repentance is not only for the sinful, it’s the path of those striving for Allah’s love.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than one of you who loses his camel in a desert and then finds it suddenly.” (Sahih Muslim 2747)
This hadith captures the overwhelming joy and mercy with which Allah welcomes back His servants. Just as a man stranded in a desert would be overcome with relief at finding his lost camel — his lifeline — Allah’s joy is even greater when we return to Him. It powerfully affirms the lesson from Quran <a href="https://quran.com/25:70">25:70</a>, where sincere repentance not only erases sins but transforms them into good deeds. This is not a distant or reluctant forgiveness; it’s a deeply personal, loving reception from the One who wants to forgive. It reminds us that no matter how far we’ve gone, our return is cherished by the One who never stopped watching over us.

Transliteration: Allahumma anta Rabbi, la ilaha illa anta. Khalaqtani wa ana ‘abduka, wa ana ‘ala ‘ahdika wa wa’dika ma istata’tu. A’udhu bika min sharri ma sana’tu. Abu’u laka bini’matika ‘alayya, wa abu’u laka bidhanbi, faghfir li fa innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta.
Translation: “O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no god except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I uphold Your covenant and promise as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I confess my sins to You. So forgive me, for no one forgives sins except You.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) added. &quot;If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.&quot;
Practical Activity
Make time for sincere tawbah today. Identify one sin you regret. Stop, reflect, and repent with Sayyid al-Istighfar. Then follow it with a good deed, even if small.

Do I turn to Allah only when I’m desperate, or do I regularly return in repentance, knowing that He loves to forgive?

The Power of Repentance

Lesson &amp; Reflection
Being loved by Allah is not limited to prayer mats and private devotion; it’s revealed in how we treat others. Justice, reliance, and humility are qualities Allah names as beloved to Him.
Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:42) praises the muqsitīn (those who are just). Justice in Islam isn’t selective or situational. It means speaking the truth even against ourselves or loved ones, being fair in business, leadership, and everyday dealings, and defending the oppressed. Allah commands: “Make peace between them in fairness and act justly. Surely Allah loves those who uphold justice.” (Quran <a href="https://quran.com/49:9">49:9</a>)
In Surah Aal-‘Imran (3:159), Allah loves those who rely upon Him: the people of tawakkul. These are not people who sit idly; they strive, plan, and work, but their hearts rest with Allah. They know outcomes are His alone. Tawakkul is the farmer planting seeds, knowing that rain only comes from Allah. It is the heart’s anchor in storms.
Then comes the trait that binds these virtues: humility. Surah Luqman (31:18) condemns pride and arrogance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us that even an atom’s weight of arrogance can bar someone from Paradise (Sunan Ibn Majah 59). True humility means knowing our place before Allah and among His creation. It’s being soft when we want to dominate, silent when we want to gloat, and generous when we want to hold back.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the highest example of humility, sitting with the poor, helping his companions, and forgiving those who wronged him. He lived among people as one of them, even though he was the best of creation. If you want Allah to love you, walk humbly in the world, serve others sincerely and justly, and place your trust in Him.
These traits are not seasonal or superficial. They are deeply rooted qualities that Allah loves. And those who adopt them are promised His love.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “No one humbles himself for the sake of Allah but that Allah raises him.” (Sahih Muslim 2588)
Practical Activity:

<li>Practice quiet justice: Do one act of fairness today – privately, without seeking praise. It could be giving someone their due, speaking up for someone, or apologizing sincerely.</li>
<li>Trust and let go: Identify one matter stressing you. Say: “I rely on Allah,” then release it to Him after taking the steps you can.</li>
<li>Choose humility: Step back in a conversation. Let someone else speak. Serve someone without being asked.</li>

The Character of Those Allah Loves

Lesson &amp; Reflection
Living for Allah’s love is not just a spiritual ambition; it’s a practical, daily commitment. Every moment can either bring us closer to Him or turn us away. The goal is not perfection but persistence: to rise after each fall, to keep striving in His path.
Surah Aal-‘Imran (3:31) gives us the core of that pursuit: follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sincerely, and Allah will love you. This is not limited to external imitation but an internal transformation through character, compassion, justice, mercy, and devotion, just as the Prophet exemplified.
In Surah Al-Qamar (54:54–55), Allah describes the final honor for the righteous: a place of dignity near Him, the Most Powerful Sovereign. What a reward for those who lived sincerely for His love.
And in Surah Al-‘Ankabūt (29:69), Allah reminds us that His guidance comes to those who strive. Mujāhadah (struggling in Allah’s way) is not just about battles; it’s about struggling against the ego, holding the tongue when tempted, forgiving when wronged, and choosing what pleases Allah even when it’s hard. Allah promises His companionship to those who strive. He is with the muhsinīn (those who do good with excellence).
When Allah loves you, His love is felt in your heart, reflected in your actions, and manifested in good outcomes by His will, It softens your speech, purifies your intentions, and aligns your goals with eternity. You’ll start to crave what brings you closer to Him and feel restless in what distances you from Him.
Let this final lesson be your launchpad. You’ve seen some of the traits Allah loves, now live by them: repent often, walk with humility, act justly, trust Him, and follow the Prophet with sincerity.
And remember: the most successful people are not those who never fail, they are those who never stop returning.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “When Allah loves a servant, He protects him from the world, just as one of you protects a sick person from water.” [where water becomes harmful in certain cases of illness] (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2036)
This hadith beautifully complements the lesson that Allah’s love is not always expressed through worldly ease. Just as we gently shield a sick loved one from harm — even from something as seemingly beneficial as water — Allah, in His perfect wisdom, may withhold certain things from those He loves to protect their hearts and their Hereafter. When we strive for Allah’s love, we begin to see life differently: loss becomes protection, delay becomes preparation, and pain becomes purification. His love surrounds us in unseen ways, shaping every step toward Him, even those we don’t understand in the moment.

 Allahumma bi ‘ilmikal-ghaybi wa qudratika ‘ala ‘l-khalq, ahyini ma ‘alimta ‘l-hayata khayran li, wa tawaffani idha ‘alimta ‘l-wafata khayran li. Allahumma inni as’aluka khash’yataka fil-ghaybi wash-shahadah, wa as’aluka kalimata ‘l-haqqi fir-rida wa ‘l-ghadab, wa as’aluka ‘l-qasda fil-ghina wa ‘l-faqr, wa as’aluka na’iman la yanfad, wa as’aluka qurrata ‘aynin la tanqati’, wa as’alukar-rida ba’dal-qada’, wa as’aluka barda ‘l-‘ayshi ba’dal-mawt, wa as’aluka ladhdhat an-nazari ila wajhik, wash-shawqa ila liqa’ik, fi ghayri darra’a mudirrah, wa la fitnatin mudillah. Translation: 
 O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and by Your power over creation, let me live if You know that life is good for me, and let me die if You know that death is better for me. I ask You for the fear of You in private and in public, for the word of truth in times of pleasure and anger, for moderation in wealth and poverty. I ask You for blessings that never end, for the coolness of my eyes that never fades, for contentment after Your decree, and for the sweetness of life after death. I ask You for the joy of gazing at Your Face and the longing to meet You, without any harmful hardship or misleading trial. O Allah, beautify us with the adornment of faith and make us among those who are rightly guided.
